On August 22, 1962, Eric L. Vaughan was born to Kathryn Vaughan and Otis Melvin in Princess Anne County, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Eric attended Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach and later became a self-employed businessman, owning and operating a painting and restoration service company for more than 30 years. Through his work, he proudly served his community with integrity and dedication. Eric’s hobbies included: spending time with family and community, enjoyed grilling, events and gatherings, playing cards, feeding squirrels, fishing. He also loved cleaning his cars and watching Redskins football and listening to Jazz and Reggae music.
On February 24, 2026, Eric was called home and gained his angel wings. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Vaughan; his father Otis Melvin; his sister Laverne Perry; and his brother Demorris Vaughan.
Eric leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Sheri Johnson; his children Evelyn Harvey (Evie), Ericka Cofield of Norfolk, D'asia Vaughan of Virginia Beach, Eric Vaughan Jr. of Portsmouth, and Erin Brehon (Shanitra) of Virginia Beach, Darius Brehon of New Jersey and Stepchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Vaughan (Shaboo), Gwen Self (Kevin), and Hollis Stringfield (Anthony); his brothers Leonard Vaughan I (Julia) and Jeffrey Vaughan; his aunts Jacqueline Boone and Eleanor Allen; his uncle Leroy Boone (Yvone); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Eric was a hardworking, stand-up man who loved his family deeply. He took pride in his work, the bonds he formed, and the love he gave as a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and true friend.
His legacy will live on forever in our hearts.
