John T. Gregory

John Thomas Gregory, 77, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was born on March 21, 1948, to the late John Thomas Olds and Sarah Frances Olds. On February 15, 2026, he gently answered the Lord’s call at home and entered eternal peace to be with the Lord

Affectionately known as “Joe,” John was a kind, gentle, and loving man whose warmth could be felt by everyone he met. He had a welcoming spirit, always greeting others with a bright smile and a handshake.

John enjoyed riding his bike and spending time doing the simple things that made him happy. A faithful and devoted member of St. Stephens Church of God in Christ, he loved worship and fellowship. He took pride in wearing his Sunday’s best and often blessed those around him by singing his favorite song, “My Soul Loves Jesus.” Prayer was close to his heart, and he faithfully lifted his family and loved ones in prayer.

John was preceded in death by his loving sister, Bloyce A. Pitt.

Left to cherish his memories are his brothers, Robert L. Gregory III, Louis W. Olds (Connie) of Hyattsville, MD, Coley Olds, Ernest Olds, Eric Olds (Cynthia), Gregory Olds (Janie), Darryl Olds (Rosslyn), Anthony Olds (Sonya), Dannell Tivis of Kansas City, MO, Vera Olds-Williams (Tony), Priscilla V. Olds; and a host of nieces; nephews; great nieces & nephews; great great nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.

His gentle spirit, loving heart, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
